This was the first function we have held in the new OCS Stand. Apart from a few inevitable teething problems the facilities were excellent. The actual room we used, the Australia Suite, was a change from the original one published but was absolutely ideal with a balcony outside to watch the match after lunch. 115 members and guests, including the Surrey Chairman and his wife, gathered to listen to a great friend of the Dining Club, Dom Antony Sutch, who was in brilliant form. Since his last visit he has traded the hectic life of Headmaster of Downside School for the tranquility of a Parish in Suffolk. The raffle that followed realised in excess of £500 for which we thank all those who contributed. To round off a great day, Surrey beat Kent in the 20/20 match. Our thanks go to Debbie from Oval Events for holding everything together after a difficult start. Dom Antony in his Downside days!! back |
