President of the MCC and Sussex CCC and a well known cricket writer. In a first class career spanning the 17 years between 1951 and 1968 he took a total of 970 wickets for Cambridge University and Sussex CCC, captaining both sides. His spin bowling earned him 100 wickets in a season on 4 occasions the best being 1955 when he took 139 wickets including 9-46 for Sussex against Lancashire. |
