Simon is a former England international rugby player, having played for Oxford University, made 170 appearances for Bath Rugby Club then on to Harlequins before retiring in 1992.  He played 23 times for England.
Simon also played 9 first class cricket matches for Oxford University then Minor Counties for Dorset.

He is currently Chairman of the European Professional Club Rugby, the governing body for the European Rugby Champions Cup.

He is also Patron of  'Help for Heroes' and 'Cardiac Risk in the Young'
